SDHGF launched in late of August in Bajel district a large-scale cleaning campaign aimed at removing the piles of rubbish accumulated at the city’s core and its main streets, including Al-Tawfiq Street, Al-Majar, the beginning of the old market, and part of the commercial district within the Humanitarian Response Project for the Displaced in partnership with the National Commission for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and disaster response, the local council, the cleaning fund and the improvement of Bajil city, funded by UNICEF. The head of the Foundation in the governorate, Dalia Qassem Farea, explained that the cleaning campaign, which lasted for three days, included the removal of the accumulated rubbish heaps in the dump and the streets of the city. It comes in response to the distress call launched by the Directorate’s Cleaning Fund to clear the dump of garbage, which had been filled, and the district, including its residents and displaced persons, is threatened with a humanitarian catastrophe that may claim the lives of many of them. In the implementation of such projects that serve citizens and areas of development, for his part, the director of the Fund for Hygiene Improvement in the Bajil district, Mr. Abdullah Al-Sharafi praised the intervention of SDHGF and UNICEF and the tremendous efforts by them and their campaign of cleaning to show the city of Bajil in the best and most beautiful image befitting its status, expressing the appreciation of the people of the Directorate for this humanitarian gesture , he also called for the implementation of more of these activities, which are concerned with the hygiene conditions in the district and the preservation of health and the environment.
